The fine green veins in this beautiful piece of French marble inspired me to investigate the nature of the stone. By creating an elliptical recess that transitions into a hole, the piece reveals the varied pattern of veins that result when the stone is cut at diff erent angles. This study in geometry allows the viewer to look into and through the stone.
