This piece celebrates the beauty in common objects such as the lowly gourd. I was attracted to the fins that protruded from a particular gourd at the farmer’s market. The fins gave the gourd a playful quality that made it look as if it could swim or fly. This is what I attempted to capture in making this piece. In my work I like to explore our primal connection to nature and the interconnection between all forms of life.
